Be sure to quit all applications which are running.
3.
Install Roboword V4.
4.
Proceed with the installation following the instructions on the screen.
5.
After completing the installation of Roboword, install "The Honyaku Basic", Acrobat Reader" and "IE5" as necessary.
6.
When the installation of Roboword is complete, download and install the introductory kit (Installation cannot be performed if Roboword is running.).
7.
Proceed with the installation following the instructions on the screen.
8.
When the installation of the introductory kit is complete, execute "Dictionary Upgrade" from "Instantaneous Translation! Roboword Ver. 4.0" in the program menu.
9.
Search the Roboword dictionary from the local disk. When the search is complete, the upgrade window of the dictionary will display. Click the "Continue" button (the upgrade may require some time to complete).

*
In order to use the upgraded dictionary, make the dictionary valid (double click the dictionary icon to open the dictionary) in the dictionary manager. When changing the settings, be sure to save the state. Selecting "New" at this time will allow you to register the dictionary as a "Translation Set".
This problem is solved in Ver. 4.02. Installation of the introductory kit is not required in Ver. 4.02.
The message "Please insert CD" does not go away during installation.
A. The current installation program cannot install a network CD drive or virtual CD drive from the environment being used. Unfortunately, you must download a virtual CD / network drive recognition dictionary tool and overwrite the folder in which Roboword is installed. Then, execute "Dictionary Upgrade" from "Instantaneous Translation! Roboword Ver. 4.0" in the program menu.
*
The above operation is described on the assumption that the V4 and "introductory kit" is installed.
This problem is solved in Ver. 4.02. The drive can be selected in Ver. 4.02.
A. The CD-ROM may be inserted in a wrong drive. When more than one drive is installed in the computer, please insert the requested CD-ROM in the CD drive closest to drive number C.
A. The CD-ROM may be running in auto-run. Confirm that the access lamp of the CD drive is not in a read state when the CD-ROM is inserted. Continue the operation after confirming the access lamp is not lit and the CD is not operating.
Q. An error message appears during the upgrade not allowing the upgrade to proceed.
A. When using a previous version dictionary in Ver. 4.00, the "Dictionary Upgrade" operation is necessary in order to convert from the dictionary structure of the previous vesion to the dictionary structure of Ver. 4.00. Therefore, previous version dictionaries must already be installed in Roboword Ver. 3.03 or higher.
This problem is solved in Ver. 4.02. The dictionary can be upgraded from the Start Menu in Ver. 4.02.
The upgrade program uses the the Windows Temp folder as a temporary work folder. Verify that there is enough free space on the drive where the Windows Temp folder exists and the drive where Roboword will be installed.
Q.Even though Roboword starts it cannot translate.
A. When the mouse cursor is placed over a word whose meaning you want to know, Roboword will automatically detect the characters under the mouse and display a translation. Be sure to move the mouse cursor over text when Roboword is running.
A. Verify the Roboword icon displayed in the system tray is not in a stopped state. In V4, left-clicking the mouse on the Roboword icon in the system tray allows you to cycle through the "Operate", "Stop", "Keyboard Translation" and "Mouse Translation" operations.
A. Verify that the characters (sentence) you want to translate are text. Even if they appear to be characters, there is a chance they may be an image file. Roboword cannot translate characters in an image file.
A. Verify that the dictionary manager started and the dictionary of the language you want to translate is installed. Languages not registered in the dictionary manager cannot be translated.
A. Verify that the dictionary manager started and the dictionary of the language you want to translate is open. For the dictionary settings you can separately set "Pointer", "Keyboard", Search" and "Cross Reference" for each individual dictionary. In order to make the settings valid, select save from the menu. At this time if you select Save As.." you can register the dictionary(s) as a "Translation Set".
A. There is a possibility that the characters you want to translate may not be registered in the dictionary installed in Roboword. In order search dictionary data, either search using a list of a "Dictionary Browser" or do a direct search for the word you want to translate using the "Search Window". If the applicable word is not registered, either register a separate optional dictionary or improve the translation accuracy by creating a user dictionary.
Q. Do not understand the function of the translation manager.
A. The dictionary manager is a program to set each individual dictionary to "Mouse Translation", "Keyboard Translation", Search" and "Cross Reference" for each application. For example, the setting could be use the Kenyusha dictionary for mouse translation and use a user dictionary for keyboard translation. Each setting is selected from a tree list on the left side of the window and clicking on a dictionary displayed on the right side allows you to make the dictionary active. You can build your own translation environment by saving changes to the settings. You can also register the dictionary(s) as a "Translation Set" if you select Save As.." at this time making it easy to switch dictionaries when necessary.
Q. Want to use sentence translation.
A. There are two ways to use sentence translation. One is sentence translation using the mouse cursor and the other is text translation using the translation tab of the search window. In order to use sentence translation install "TDE Honyaku Basic 1.0" during installation. If "TDE Honyaku Basic 1.0" is not saved in an active state in the "Translation Manager", you cannot use sentence translation.
Q. Do not know where sentence read out starts from.
A. The sentence read out function cannot be called easily. The speech window where sentence read out executes can only be called from "Search", "Study List Manager" and "Dictionary Browser". Additionally, you cannot call it by starting just one of these. Consequently, start the read out after selecting or searching for data.
This problem is solved in Ver. 4.02. This can be called from the main menu in Ver. 4.02.
Q. Cannot use sentence read out.
A. Verify that the check box of "Use Voice Read Out Function" of "Settings" - "Options" - "Start" is checked. This setting becomes valid after restarting the computer.
Some computer environments may not correctly install "Text to Speech" which will result in the sentence read out function becoming unusable.
This problem is solved in Ver. 4.02.
